How We Work With Leaders and Teams
Share
Capable Life is often known for its tools and resources—but our work doesn’t stop at content.
Much of what we do happens in the room.
We partner directly with churches, teams, boards, and organizations through live training experiences designed to help people lead with greater clarity, steadiness, and connection. Whether in person or over Zoom, our goal is simple: help leaders stay grounded in the middle of real pressure.
Our approach is shaped by the core ideas behind Capable Life—differentiation, emotional awareness, and systems thinking—formed over years of working alongside leaders in ministry, nonprofit, and organizational settings.
What We Offer
Keynotes & Talks
We offer engaging, accessible teaching that helps leaders begin to see anxiety, pressure, and reactivity more clearly. These sessions are a helpful starting point for conferences, staff gatherings, leadership events, and board retreats.
Workshops & Retreats
For teams looking to go deeper, workshops and retreats create space to slow down and practice. These are interactive environments where reflection, skill-building, and honest conversation can take shape—whether with leadership teams, staff groups, women’s gatherings, or couples.
Consulting & Coaching
We also come alongside leaders and teams over time. In seasons of complexity, conflict, or transition, we help surface what’s often hard to name, clarify leadership posture, and support wiser, steadier decision-making.
Meet the Capable Life Training Team
Steve Cuss
Steve is the founder of Capable Life and the author of Managing Leadership Anxiety and The Expectation Gap. For years, he has worked with leaders around the world, helping them understand anxiety, stay differentiated, and lead with clarity.
His teaching continues to shape the foundation of this work and the posture of our entire training team.
Lisa Cuss, MA, LPC
Lisa is a licensed therapist, speaker, and trainer with a deep commitment to the intersection of psychology and faith. Her work is trauma- and attachment-informed, helping individuals and teams move through pain, stuck patterns, and relational disconnection with care and clarity.
She is especially gifted at creating spaces—through intensives, retreats, and gatherings—where meaningful healing and renewal can take root.
Jimmy Carnes
Jimmy is a coach, consultant, and speaker with a background in building teams and sustainable systems in local church settings. He helps leaders grow in self-awareness and connection, often bringing systems theory and the Enneagram into practical, everyday application.
He has a particular ability to help teams name the underlying dynamics that quietly disrupt trust and effectiveness—and to move toward healthier ways of working together.
Renae Loring, LCSW
Renae is a licensed therapist, spiritual director, and trainer who brings both depth and steadiness to her work. With over 20 years of ministry experience, she helps leaders navigate change, discern next steps, and grow in wholeness across both personal and organizational life.
Whether you’re planning a retreat, a workshop, or simply sensing that your team could use support in a demanding season, we’re always glad to start a conversation.
